Out of 120 online seminar participants in the International
Academy for Leadership (IAF) seminar on new public management, 10
Filipinos actively participated. The IAF chose six of them to join
18 others from around the world to continue their discussions offline
in Gummersbach, Germany. The six Filipinos chosen are a diverse
group: one is a journalist, two are lawyers and three are government
employees.
“It was an extraordinary experience, overwhelming sometimes,
but very informative and very educational,” said Attorney
George Carmona, one of the six Filipinos chosen, of the recently
concluded online seminar. “You get to talk to a lot of people
worldwide. You get to share your experience, and you get to come
up with the best practices that you can apply here in the Philippines,”
he added. “I have participated in other online seminars,
but I think this is probably the best so far. The level
of discussion is very high.”
“I am pleased that IAF chose six Filipino participants
to go to Germany,” said Resident Representative Dr. Ronald
Meinardus. “We hope to maintain this high ratio
of acceptance and participation of Filipinos in what
is the most important global leadership training
sponsored by the Foundation.”
