is up to the challenge. The Road to Manila Congress is a series
of discussions in preparation for the Liberal International
57th Congress on Human Rights and Trade, co-organized by the
Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty and the Council of
Asian Liberals and Democrats.

The role of political parties and civil society as instruments
to propel liberal principles and reforms in the Philippines
was illuminated in a three-day seminar held last May 4-6 in
Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Prominent liberal stalwarts, Deputy
Speaker Lorenzo “Erin” Tañada and CALD Secretary-General
Dr. Nereus “Neric” Acosta, were two of the remarkable
speakers who imparted valuable lessons on lobbying advocacies
and cooperation between political parties and civil society,

The Philippine Office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for
Liberty presents its silver year anniversary video in promoting
liberal advocacy in the country. FNF opened its office in Manila
after the People Power Revolution in 1986. Since then, it has
cooperated with the Liberal Party of the Philippines (LP) to
pursue political education. Over the years, it has established
partnership with the National Institute for Policy Studies (NIPS),
Ateneo Human Rights Center (AHRC), Philippine Economic Society
(PES), and Foundation for Economic Freedom (FEF) to promote

Excesses,
Recovery and Good Government
Excesses, Recovery and Good Government is an exhibit organized
by the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG). PCGG
was founded 25 years ago as the first act of Cory Aquino as
President, primarily to investigate what happened to the millions
of pesos that had disappeared under the regime of Ferdinand
Marcos. The exhibit will be moved to other high-traffic areas
and also to schools in Metro Manila and in the provinces to
