Young Asian Leaders Visit Liberal Foundation
Senior officials of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) met
with the executive committee of the
Young
Liberals and Democrats of Asia (YLDA) on the sidelines of
their recent meeting in Manila. FNF’s Regional Director
for East and South East Asia, Mr. Hubertus von Welck, the Head
of the Asia Department at the Foundation’s headquarters,
Mr. Siegfried Herzog, and Philippine Resident Representative
Dr. Ronald Meinardus welcomed the YLDA leadership at the joint
FNF/CALD/YLDA premises in Makati City.
“I am happy that the executive committee meeting of YLDA
is taking place in Manila. My best wishes for a productive dialogue.
We share your hope that your important gathering is successful
and ground breaking,” Dr. Meinardus told the young liberals
who hail from different parts of the continent. The delegation
included YLDA Secretary General Rajendra Mulmi (
Youth
Initiative- Nepal), Sandun Gamage (
Institute
of Democracy and Leadership Youth Guilds- Sri Lanka), Eko
Darwanto (
Garda Bangsa Youth
Indonesia), Koy Koung (
Khmer
Nation Youth Movement- Cambodia), and Liberal Youth of South
Asia President Robin Sitoula (Nepal).
The young leaders, headed by YLDA President Jonathan Malaya,
were in Manila to discuss important issues confronting their
organization.
YLDA is one of the Foundation’s partners in the region. It
is the pan-Asian federation of liberal and democratic political
party youth wings, organizations, and individuals.
