FNF Philippines Anniversary Video:
25 Years in the Making
The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) documents its
25 years in the Philippines in a video where its contributions to
strengthening liberal democracy in the country are narrated by liberal
leaders including Liberal
Party President MAR Roxas.
"FNF has been a very strong partner of the party in providing
us with a constant reminder of the very important ideals by which
we serve in public office. Liberty and democracy, the emancipation
and empowerment of the economic man as well as good governance,"
said Roxas. Former Liberal Party Presidents Frank Drilon, Butch
Abad, Raul Daza and Bobby Tanada also expressed their appreciation
for the venue that FNF provides where liberal leaders from around
the world are able to interchange ideas. Abad, Daza, and Drilon
have all been chair of FNF's regional partner, the Council
of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) while Tanada is the
Secretary-General of the Working Group for an ASEAN
Human Rights Mechanism.
All of FNF Philippines Resident Representatives appeared in the
video, recalling the projects that FNF initiated in the course
of 25 years. International networking, election poll watching,
new media, property rights and good governance are among the activities
that FNF worked for and continues to do until today. Dr. Wolfgang
Gerhardt, President of the Board of Directors summarized the work
of the foundation succinctly: Freedom
as the basis of all political dealings. This is also the inspiration
behind FNF Philippines' ongoing campaign It's
All About Freedom.
The video will be played at FNF events. In the next years, more
activities and personalities will certainly be part of the chronicle.
