Secretary Florencio Abad of the Department
of Budget and Management (DBM) will talk about how to maximize
the benefits of freedom where people can pursue their dreams –
which is also the promise of the Aquino Administration, at the
inaugural Freedom Speech on 06 December 2011.
“We are excited to hear the speech of Secretary Butch.
As one of the important members of the Aquino Cabinet, he can
tell us about the government’s liberal reforms that would
allow Filipinos a ‘taste of true freedom’ as President
Aquino himself once mentioned,” said Jules Maaten, Country
Director of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF)
that is organizing the event. Abad, is a long-time friend of FNF,
a German political foundation that is celebrating its 25 years
in the Philippines.
Abad is expected to discuss the prospects of freedom in the country
and abroad. Freedom is a concept that FNF is trying to translate
into everyday language and in concrete terms. The Freedom Speech
is part of FNF’s It’s
All About Freedom campaign together with Ako’y Malaya,
aFreedom Song especially composed for the program by Noel
Cabangon.
The presentation of The
Liberal Project will also take place on December 6. Seven
outstanding liberal initiatives of congress, local government
and civil society will be awarded.
